Tune: Me and
Bobby McGee
Chords below
Busted by a
police raid on our protest camp at dawn
Feeling nearly flattened as my tent
I only threw one concrete block to tidy up the lawn
To show them peace and love was what we meant
Jacinta took my job away, OT took my child
A forklift came and took away my
car
My pack went on a bonfire when our protest got real
wild
A boot went through my old 12 string guitar.
Freedom's
just another word for
nothing left to lose
And nothing left is all that's
left for me
But
feelin' good was easy Lord, in
Convoy 22
You know,
feelin' good is good enough
for me
And our protest Lord, it's really
set me free.
From
3 weeks on the Beehive lawn to 3
months on my bed
Long covid's scarred the precepts of my A
soul
My GP's found no virus, he says it's in my head
But somehow I keep feeling weak and D
old.
ICU - one in a thousand
This illness just won't leave me, O Lord take it
away
I feel as frail as our democracy
And I'd trade all my tomorrows for one
single yesterday
In Convoy 22, all vaccine free.
In Convoy 22, long covid
free.
Long covid - one in
four
Yeah,
freedom's just another word for
nothing left to lose
And nothing's all long covid's left for
me, yeah
But feelin' good was easy Lord, in
Convoy 22
That protest Lord it really set me free
Though not quite how I thought that it
would be.
Long Covid
Long covid is a
form of Tapanui Flu, or "post-viral chronic
fatigue syndrome."
After most people's minor covid-19 sniffles pass
away, about one person in four has long-term
symptoms like shortness of breath, chronic
fatigue, brain fog, etc, while four out of five
of those hospitalized by covid-19 suffer from
these long term symptoms.
This is often because some viruses particles
have crossed the barrier between the blood to
the lymph that bathes their brain and nerves. Lymphatic
massage may relieve these symptoms by
flushing this contaminated lymph into the
bloodstream where antibodies can deal with the
viral remnants. A doctor explains more fully here.
The ones most likely to get long covid are those
who were unvaccinated, with a history of
mononucleosis (kissing disease), type-2
diabetes, auto-antibodies, or other virus
remnants still in their bodies.
Anti-Mandate Protests
In 1980 the world
population was just over 4 billion, and
prosperous. Many democratic social welfare
countries could give much freedom to their
citizens, and there was not a great gap between
rich and poor.
Then neo-liberal politicians conned countries
into privatizing state assets for short term
gains, and also into increasing populations for
short-term added prosperity. Jumbo jets,
mega-container ships, the internet,
neo-liberalism and a population explosion
combined to create a one-world economy, and a
rapid decline in democracy since 2006, as
Wikipedia shows.
2012
New Zealand (9.37)
is one of the five countries that are still full
democracies, but an excess of immigrants and
tourists from alien cultures, deteriorating
housing standards, and the increased restrictions
to cope with sustainability, overcrowding and
fewer jobs have placed huge pressures on many
Kiwis, and they feel robbed of their birthright.
The last straw for
many people, especially Maori, was two years of
restrictions on travel, going to work, and
gathering together, in order to cope with our
first pandemic in a 100 years. This culminated in
a huge protest convoy to parliament on Feb 15,
2022, and a crowded camp outside it for three
weeks, as the various people there aired all their
pent-up frustrations.
