The Tararua Tramping Club
This
club is comprised of city workers
in the Wellington region who escape into the wilderness
for exercise, adventure and companionship on weekends.
Most trips are to huts in the Tarurua Ranges just north of
Wellington, but a five hour journey takes them to their
30-bed lodge high up on Mt Ruapehu, for hiking, climbing,
skiing, boarding, snow-caving and for just escaping from
city confinement. These lyrics were created in 2007 by club members Nicola Custance Simon Davis, Mary Kane, Shona Mouri and Holly Walker. The club has a long reputation for singing their own songs, with older ones being Away Away with Billy & Pack - No Boots at All - A Fast Pair of Skis - No More Double-Bunking - The Marathon Song - On the Slopes of Mt Alpha and The Terror of the Teraneek
