                Ever returning
are your thoughts
To (your) loved one, (your) loved one
(your) loved one.

Never, never
will there be a thought
for you girl
for you girl.

Where ever can he be?

Never, never
will there be any interest
towards you girl

Kore rawa, kore wara
I aro mai e
Ki a koe rä e hine

Turning over, turning over
are your thoughts
seeking, seeking
Your loved one.

Never, never
will there be any interest
towards you girl

Like the bulrush, like the bulrush

for you girl
